Terra & Mistero
Where the Island
Hides its' soul

For 8 Days, We Move Between Two Worlds:
The granite coast of Gallura, where silver olive groves meet turquoise coves, and the wild heart of the Barbagia, where ancient traditions are still alive in the hands of shepherds, artisans, and the few who guard the rarest pasta on earth.

Harvest & Cooking
We harvest olives by hand and press them into our own oil. We forage for porcini in forests that have fed Sardinians for millennia. We learn Su Filindeu - the threads of God - from one of the few people who still knows how to make it.

Culture & Craft
We paint masks with a master in Ottana. We craft silver rings in a traditional filigree workshop as the afternoon light fades.
On the final night, we join an ancient village for Cortes Apertas - the opening of the courtyards - as Sardinia marks Is Animeddas, its Day of the Dead. Join the locals as they open their doors once a year, on Halloween, to showcase local delicacies, wines, traditional dances, costumes, and crafts.

Wilderness
Hike throught a nature preserve with local mufflone, enjoy an al fresco picnic at the most beautiful hidden beach.
Then, in Barbagia, canoe across a lake held between basalt cliffs to eat with shepherds in a mountain valley.

This trip was designed for those who want more than a holiday. It is intimate, immersive, and unrepeatable.
The Incredible Itinerary:

Day 0 - Arrival
Touch down in Olbia. Transfer to La Sciumara Resort in Palau, our home on the granite coast. Welcome drink. Dinner by the water. The adventure begins tomorrow.
Day 1 - The Harvest
Hand-pick olives in an ancient grove as morning light cuts through silver leaves. Then into the forest with baskets to forage for porcini. Lunch at the home of our hosts- think new oil, the mushrooms we gathered, autumn vegetables, homemade pasta, wine. In the afternoon, a private wine tasting at Siddura, one of Gallura's most beautiful wineries.
Day 2 - The Wild Coast
A full day on the water and stone. We ferry to Caprera, the wildest of the La Maddalena islands, and hike to Cala Napoletana - a hidden cove of impossible turquoise framed by granite boulder, where we enjoy a picnic lunch on the beach. Swim if you're brave. Return at dusk.
Day 3 - The Threshold
We leave the coast. At a frantoio (olive oil mill) in Berchidda we press the olives we harvested into our own oil, bottling and labelling it to take home. Lunch at Maman Ludi, a fine dining restaurant that elevates Sardinian cuisine with precision and soul. Then the road climbs east. The mountains close in. We arrive at La Croisette Farm, our private home in the Barbagia for the next five nights.
Day 4 - The Crafts
In Nuoro we learn Su Filindeu - the rarest pasta on earth -from one of the few people who still holds the knowledge. You will stretch semolina dough into 256 impossibly thin threads. It is frustrating, meditative, and profound. Then we eat what we made. In the afternoon, we drive to Ottana to paint traditional Caratzas masks with a master artisan. Evening at Greg Pizza, a local institution.
Day 5 - The Shepherds
A full day in the wild. Off-road vehicles take us to Lake Cedrino. We canoe across still water, past volcanic columns and herons, to the source of Su Gologone, Sardinia's largest karst spring. Then into the Lanaitho Valley to eat with shepherds: salumi, fresh ricotta, roast suckling pig, cannonau, prepared over open flame and served in the open air.
Day 6 - The Underworld
We explore the magnificent cave- Grotta di Ispinigoli, home to one of Europe's largest stalactites, that resembles the cave from Aladdin. Lunch at Ristorante Ispinigoli, then a visit to Parco Museo S'Abba Frisca, an ethnographic park of water, gardens, and Sardinian rural life. In the afternoon, a master goldsmith teaches us the secrets of Sardinian filigree jewelry. Each guest makes a silver ring to take home. We watch pane carasau being made the traditional way and taste it warm from the fire.
Day 7 - The Feast of the Dead
Cortes Apertas. The open courtyards of the Barbagia annual festival. All day we wander a mountain village where every stone doorway is a tasting station- culurgiones, roast chestnuts, cannonau, and the deep polyphonic singing of canto a tenore, with traditional dances. As evening falls, Sardinia marks Is Animeddas. Bonfires. Candles. The veil between worlds grows thin. We return to La Croisette for our final night.
Day 8 - Departure
Breakfast. A last walk through the grounds. Transfer to Olbia.

"Amazing - or should I say life changing experience. There was never-ending learning, tasting, laughing, and pure enjoyment. So much gratitude and thanks for an unforgettable week!"

I attended the retreat because I wanted a taste of the Blue Zone life style. I'm not a wine drinker, but Sardinian wine was unlike anything I've ever tasted. It was a feast for the eyes, tastebuds, and the heart. You will come away feeling refreshed and reborn, with a greater appreciation for the little things in life. Thank you Laura!
Julie
My recent experience on a Healiday retreat changed my life. Learning Sardinia's secrets to longevity was unlike anything I've ever experienced. I didn't even know I needed this - but it was everything I needed to nourish my body and soul. Now I've incorporated the Sardinian way of life back at home. I would recommend this trip to anyone facing a crossroads in their life.
About Your Host
I'm Laura Mendelson, expert sommelier, certified yoga teacher, longevity coach, and long-time resident of Sardinia.
I’ve been living on the island for over 12 years, and this lifestyle completely changed how I experience health, stress, food, movement, and connection. But Sardinia isn’t just where I live. It’s where I learned what living well actually means.

Today, I host Longevity Lifestyle retreats because I want others to experience what transformed me:

-
The rhythm of slow, intentional living
-
Real community and connection
-
Food and wine as nourishment, not indulgence
-
Movement that supports longevity, not burnout

I don’t just guide this experience. I've learned how to live it every day, and my deepest joy is sharing it with you.

See you in Sardinia,
